As a bridge between the communities and governments, Société Santé en français is a dynamic national association whose goal is to promote the development of French-language health services for Francophone and Acadian minority communities in Canada. Société Santé en français is the link among 16 regional, provincial and territorial French Language Health Networks (FLHNs) working to bring together partners interested in improving access to French-language health care services in every province and territory where French is not the language of the majority of the population.

Société Santé en français

For the last 20 years, SSF has been showing the impact that language barriers have on the quality and suitability of healthcare, in addition to collecting and sharing evidence to improve access to French-language healthcare and health services. Networking and knowledge mobilization are central to SSF’s work.

Our partners fall into five main types—all of which are essential when it comes to communities’ ability to take charge of their healthcare systems and transform them:

  • Government authorities
  • Healthcare workers
  • Health facility managers
  • Healthcare training institutions
  • Community organizations

SSF is organizing its 8th edition of Rendez-vous Santé en français, a five-yearly event that brings together 400 participants from across the country, French-language healthcare networks, and national, provincial, and territorial partners. This year’s edition of Rendez-vous Santé en français coincides with SSF’s 20th anniversary celebrations. It will be an opportunity to take stock of the leading issues and explore innovative solutions for improving access to French-language health services nationwide.
